A Christmas Sentiment

I have decided to preempt the post I was working on, to share a little Christmas musing.

Nothing new, but if you can, try to slow down and experience the joy of the season. I know I know, easy for me to say, as I have others out running my errands, but seriously, I wish I would have heeded this advice when I had the chance. I have always loved everything about Christmas, still do, but am sure I missed out on some magical moments because I was too “busy”. I see people frazzled and grumbling, stressing out over Christmas. The shopping, the expense, the social gatherings, the decorating and cooking, all of the expectations, combine to make some people dread Christmas. Sad!

I have been reminded just how difficult this time of the year can be for some people. Those grieving the loss of loved ones, those struggling to get by financially, those battling illness and those who are so desperately lonely. If you are fortunate enough to have food on the table, friends and family who love you, and you know I’m going to say this, your health, be grateful. Celebrate!

Don’t stress over the details. Lose the expectations and embrace the simple moments with loved ones. Be aware of those who need a helping hand or a listening ear. For me, the reason for the season is to celebrate the birth of a Savior and the hope that is at the core of the Christmas story. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely enjoy buying gifts and eating all the delicious holiday food (at least I used to ;), but there really is so much more.

Merry Christmas!!! xo

  1. Leanne, thanks for the sage advice.

I’m just trying to stay out of Tanya’s way at this point. She’s already doing 80 in a 30 zone.

I will make sure she reads this.

  2. Merry Christmas Leanne! I hope you have a joyously blessed season surrounded by your loved ones. God Bless you & your family 🎄💖

  3. A blessed Christmas to you Leanne and your family. Your words ring so true! God keep you in His arms. Thank you for sharing! Hugs to you- Candy

  4. Leanne, thank you for the thoughtful reminder to slow down and enjoy Christmas. I have definitely simplified things this year and so far it is making a big difference. I hope I can say that on Christmas Eve day when I’m getting ready for our guests. Stressing about having the house clean, perfect Christmas decor or presents can rob us of enjoying each moment with family and friends and reflecting on why we are celebrating. I pray that the time you spend with your family and friends this year will be so rich and meaningful. May you truly have a Merry Christmas.

  5. Thank you. So many beautiful moments, and yes, we are so blessed. Merry Christmas Leanne. Wishing you a wonderful, magical Christmas with your beautiful family.
